- Los Angeles/ Long Beach
We started our little trip from LA, via Long Beach and Joshua Tree Park, to Santa Barbara, Big Sur at Highway One to San Francisco.
Flight was United Airlines with Boeing 737 – 800 to Denver:
Wir haben unseren Urlaub gestartet. Es geht nach Los Angeles, dann über Long Beach, Joshua Tree National Park, den Highway One hoch über Santa Barbara, Big Sur nach San Francisco. Der Flug ging nach Denver mit United Airlines in einer Boeing 737 – 800:
It was normal economy class with extra legroom. Looks good?!
Es war Economy Klasse mit extra Beinfreiheit. Aber sieht gut aus?!
Von Denver ging es schnell weiter nach LA:

Die Rolletreppen in Denver waren endlich mal fein breit!
The escalator at Denver Airport were nice broad!
Plane from Denver was Boeing 757 – 300, a long version of 757. Economy seat was very tight. Three seats in line left and three right, like small plane have.
Der Flug ab Denver ging mit einer Boeing 757 -300, einer Langversion der 757. Sitzreihen waren aber drei rechts und drei links, also ein Mittelgang.
Von LA ging es mit dem Leihwagen, einem kleinen Jeep nach Long Beach zur Queen Mary , unserem Hotel.

- Duct cleaning/ Klimaanlagenreinigung
Gestern hatten wir duct cleaning. Dabei werden die Lüftungsrohre (duct) gereinigt. Ihr erinnert euch ? Auf dem Dachboden?

So sieht bsw hier im Büro an der Decke der Abzug/ Einlass aus. Die Luft kommt bei einem rein und bei einem anderen raus. In jedem Zimmer wurden diese Gitter abgebaut.
This is the look of air entrance/ exit in our office on the ceiling. Each room has one exit and one entrance( air vent?) . Both in each room have been open for cleaning.

Vor dem Haus wurde das Ding aufgebaut, was sehr laut war. Der dicke Schlauch ging auf den Dachboden.
In front yard was this loud device. Big pipe gone to the attic.
Diese blauen Drähte bewegen sich schnell im Kreis per Luftdruck. Sie werden in die Löcher in der Zimmerdecke in die Ducts tief eingeführt.
This blue turned in circle with pressure air. They put them deep in the duct / in the holes in the ceiling.
Heute warte ich seit 9 Uhr auf den Teppich Reiniger. … Es ist 11:30 Uhr… habe angerufen – er kommt später …

Hallo hier ein kurzes Update, was so die letzten Tage passiert ist. Wir waren hier ca 3-4 Kilometer entfernt in einem neuen Fisch Restaurant. Das Essen kam in einer Plastiktüte! Hat einigermaßen geschmeckt aber so viel Plastik sieht man selten beim Essen…
Hello, here a short update of last days. We went to new fish restaurant 3 – 4 Kilometer away. The lunch was ok but served in plastic bag! So much plastic in a Restaurant I have never seen.
Wir haben angefangen mit Bjarnes Bad. Jetzt ist es fast fertig. Es dient ja gleichzeitig als Gäste Bad.
We started to renew the bathroom from Bjarne. It is also for our guests.

the bathtub was about 30 cm „deep“😀😀😀New is normal deep… perfect! Here in USA the flat tub s are standard… unbelievable 😀
Die Badewanne war ca 30 cm tief. Die neue ist fast doppelt so tief, also für uns normal. Hier in USA hat man ja standardmäßig nur die flachen😀
Wir waren in Lawrenceville in einer Brauerei. Dort darf kein Essen verkauft werden. Also gab es nur Bier.

Hallo, hello aus/ from America!
In Baltimore kam der Frontier Flieger fast 2 Stunden später. Man hatte nachts eine SMS geschickt und einfach die Abflugzeit verändert, so dass er „pünktlich“ gestartet ist😀 Ansonsten wie auf dem Hinflug ein normaler Flug, alles sauber, nettes Bordpersonal, alles gut. Diesmal flogen wir mit dem Flamingo Flieger.
We left Baltimore with Frontier Airlines, same we arrived. The plane was nearly 2 hours delayed… but haha , Frontier sent text message in the night before and made new departure time! So flight was on time😀😀😀
The crew was friendly , plane was clean, good flight … we had the flamingo Plane.

Hallo aus Baltimore, heute habe ich meinen Freund Goody nach knapp 25 Jahren wiedergesehen. Als wir zwei Damen fragten, ein Bild von uns zu machen, sagten diese, dass sie sich heute auch nach 45(!) Jahren zum ersten Mal wieder gesehen haben😀😀😀

Wir wohnen im Tru by Hilton. Ist ganz ok. Man soll nur nach links aus dem Ausgang! Rechts wird es nach ein zwei Blocks gefährlich….

Hergeflogen sind wir mit Frontier. Man hat viel schlimmes gelesen… aber sie waren pünktlich und sauber. Wir hatten etwas mehr Beinfreiheit gebucht. Man konnte die knapp 1,5 Stunden sehr gut sitzen. Lehne ließ sich allerdings nicht bewegen… aber nein, zu dem Preis will man nicht meckern😀

but it was punctual, clean and our seats with more legroom where ok for 1,5 hours! The backrest was not to adjust… but hey! For this price it was a great experience!

Zu Hause ist der Briefkasten vergammelt. Er ist aus Holz. Wir wollten spachteln, aufarbeiten aber der war total durch. Somit musste ein neues Holzgestell her. Das kostet 375 Dollar und es muss genau dem erforderten Standart in der Community entsprechen. Wir mussten ihn nach den Regeln aufstellen. Die schwarze Metallbox ist die alte.
Our postbox was rodden, we hoped to remodel but was not possible… so we bought new one . The black metal box is the old. We made installation like it must be!😀
We bought/ ordered lunch… this Burger was 12 Dollar!!! Only the burger as in picture!

Wir wollen bald evtl nach Baltimore und dann im Juni an die Westküste u a LA, Joshua Tree National Park, … bis San Francisco. Also wer noch New Orleans und New York hier ziemlich unten lesen will, sollte es nun machen, denn spätestens dann wird es ausgeblendet … immer wenn ich was schreibe, verschwindet unten ein Teil..
We will go to West Coast LA, San Francisco etc in June … so please read about New York and New Orleans down ( scroll down )… when I write new the oldest blog will go away…

Hello from Atlanta!
I got dental surgery today so we did not so much last weeks and next weeks same. We only do things around the house now. In the Kitchen and eating room we got new lamps/recessed lighting. Outside we started to make old colors away from Deck… the floor we gave up and changed all old against new wood board’s.
Heute hatte ich eine Zahn OP. Darum haben wir zuletzt nicht viel unternommen. Dafür haben wir in und um s Haus einiges geschafft. Neue Beleuchtung in der Küche mit Deckenstrahlern, im Esszimmer neue Lampe. Zudem hatten wir ja mit der Terrasse angefangen, die alte Farbe zu entfernen. Nach vielen Stunden haben wir das aufgegeben und neue Bretter für den Terrassenboden gekauft.

Hier noch ein paar Dinge, die so passiert sind die Tage. Die Rattenfänger haben noch keine Ratten auf dem Dachboden gefangen…. Das Klopfen ist noch ein zweimal aufgetaucht… drückt uns die Daumen!
Pest Control did not catch rat … maybe next time, cross fingers! The „ Tok Tok“ noise was to hear 1-2 times.
We wanted to make air in tires…been at 5 filling stations. Always to pay😀😀😃 And all with different pressure ! At end I went to Car service station!
Wir wollten Luft auffüllen und waren an 5 Tankstellen! Jedesmal gegen Dollar! Und alle mit unterschiedlichen Ergebnissen! Am Ende war ich in der Werkstatt!
Das neue Auto kam am 1 April. Kaum zu Hause, ein Anruf:“ Hallo unser Mechaniker hat seine Taschenlampe unter Ihrem Auto vergessen, könnten Sie bitte nachsehen?“ Ich dachte an einen April Scherz😀😀😀

Hier im Garten habe ich die Regenrinne verlängert und Siebe eingebaut am Ausfluss. Das Regenwasser versickert im Rasen.
Here in the garden I made rain water pipes and outlets in the lawn. The rainwater is sinking in the lawn.
Im Moment schleifen wir die Terrasse. Sie wurde die letzten 30 Jahre immer übergesprayt ohne jegliche Vorbehandlung! Das kostet 2000 Dollar! Aber wir machen es selber… abschleifen, Spachteln, Grundieren und streichen. Das Holz ist schon sehr angegriffen… gleich gehts weiter mit der Arbeit … während andere im Osterurlaub sind😀

So we are doing the job alone😀 Water pressure and sanding … putty smooth… ground painting and new painting… this is our eastern while other sitting in Easter holiday 😀😀😀

Here we put special Gutter foam( in Bjarnes Hand) in Gutter. It shall stop pine needles etc in gutters… 6 m for 40 Dollar! To test how it works. We got an offer for Metall „Gutter Guard“: 14.000(!!!) Dollar!!! So cross fingers 😀 Of course in one, two, three years we have to change them…
Wir haben speziellen Schaumstoff ( Im Bild in Bjarnes Hand) in 6 m Regenrinne gesteckt, um es zu testen. Ca 40 Dollar… wir hatten ja das Angebot zu 14.000 Dollar mit „ GutterGuard“ aus Metall… drückt uns die Daumen! Natürlich muss man die alle ein, zwei, drei Jahre tauschen…

Mit dem neuen Auto gab es ein paar Probleme. „Gekauft wie gesehen“… aber wir haben es geschafft und mit kleinem Aufschlag den Wagen tauschen können😀

Dienstag 4 April bis 5ten waren wir in Chattanooga ca 2,5 Stunden von hier in Tennessee. Dort u a in einer tollen Bar.
Tuesday 4 – 5 th April we went about 2,5 hours from here to Chattanooga/ Tennessee. There we have been to nice bar.
Normally I will be on same picture with the welcome sign. But from our direction was no possibility to stop our car safe on the heavy trafficking highway…so next time when we will maybe come from Kentucky 😀
Normal stehe ich ja mit dem Welcome Schild auf einem Bild. Aber diesmal war es einfach zu gefährlich auf dem Highway zu stoppen. Also vielleicht beim nächsten Mal aus Kentucky 😀

Wir waren Wandern ca 1,5 Stunden von hier. Ein toller Weg durch die Wildniss( das bedeutet , da wird im Grunde nichts gemacht! )Bärenspray hatten wir dabei 😀
Der Weg war ca 5 Kilometer pro Richtung und am Ende wurde man mit hohen Felsen und einem tollen Wasserfall belohnt!
Bjarne blieb zu Hause. Igor war mit.
We drove around 1,5 hours by car from here and made a nice hike. The way was 3.2 miles one direction. At the end a nice waterfall and high Stones waited for us😀The area called wildness! They do nearly nothing there… we had Spray against bears with us!
Bjarne stayed home and Igor was with us.

First we had a sound in the wall of Masterbed Room. Mostly at 12 pm… tok tok … same tok tok rythem, and only two, three , four times in complete night.
Arrow Pest Control said rattles on attic! They are helping us now😀 Gap between roof, gutter and attic they closed etc…

Einige Dinge sind passiert. So hatten wir in der Wand im Schlafzimmer oft ein Klopfen Tok tok! Immer zweimal und das dann drei vier mal nacheinander und oft um 0:00 Uhr!
Arrows Pest Control hat Ratten ausgemacht auf dem Dachboden! Jetzt helfen sie uns, diese zu beseitigen. Zunächst wurden alle Lücken geschlossen zwischen Regenrinne, Dach und Dachboden. Nun kommen sie jede Woche bis auf weiteres.We went to hiking trip. We bought a book with 50 hikes in Georgia 😀

last weekend we have been at Conagaree National Park in Georgia about 3,5 hours from here.
hallo! Letztes Wochenende waren wir eine Nacht im Conagaree National Park, also im Hotel in Columbia eine Nacht😀Ca 3,5 Stunden von hier im Auto.
Auf Hin – und Rückfahrt kamen wir durch Washington, Georgia.

Ende Februar hatten wir schon 27 Grad… der Winter ist hoffentlich vorbei! Natürlich ruft dann der Garten😀 Die Beton Einfahrt wurde gereinigt und der Rasen ökologisch gedüngt!
End of February we had 27 degree Celsius.. we hope the winter is over now! Of course the garden is calling 😀 … we cleaned the concrete drive way and made fertilizer organic on the lawn.

Hier plätschert das normale Leben herunter. Im Januar waren wir hier in einem Park in Suwanee, der leider überflutet war, so dass wir nach knapp einer Stunde wieder nach Hause fuhren. Dann waren wir in einem Park ca 1 Stunde von uns aber der war auch nach einigen 100 m gesperrt.We went in January to a little park in Suwanee , 10 Kilometer from our house. The park was flooded .. we only stayed about 1 hour…
Other park should be bigger but after some 100 m the way was closed. This park was about one hour from our house.
